Cumberland Caverns

A native of Birmingham, AL., I began my photography journey as a freshman in high school. My interest in Photography started from my experiences in the Boy Scouts and my troop leader and lifelong friend, Jim Terry.

Jim is a local architect and an excellent photographer himself. He encouraged and taught me a great deal about the art of photography. At age 16, I won a Kodak Silver Medal of Excellence in Photography for a photo of my twin brother Tommy, (Photo on the right) in Cumberland Caverns (McMinnville, TN). Jim was the person who fired the flash unit that backlit this image.

While I was a student at Ramsay High School, I was the yearbook and newspaper photographer. I also enjoy photographing sports, landscapes, portraits, and current events around our city. I took a couple of photography classes at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in the 1980s. I’m currently enrolled in the Academy of the Arts Accredited Photography program at Samford University.

When I’m not behind the camera, I work as a Clinical Compounding Pharmacist at Harbin Pharmacy in Birmingham, AL. I’m also a Husband, Father, and Grandfather who enjoys backpacking, woodworking and singing.
